Chattanooga Organized for Action is an organization composed in three parts: community leadership, COA members, and staff and board members.
The heart of COA rests with our community leadership, who drive campaigns and advise staff to provide relevant strategy, analysis, and policy resources. Our staff and COA members members create spaces and support efforts towards discussing shared oppressions and collaborating on innovate solutions to community-wide challenges. Our volunteers include COA Members, interns, and apprentice community organizers, who fill in the gaps that community leaders and staff alone cannot meet. Like many small nonprofits, the COA Board of Directors is a working board composed entirely of either grassroots community leaders actively engaged in the day-to-day activities of organizing or key volunteers who have been with the organization for years. Board members are actively engaged in the day-to-day operations of COA, each in their own unique capacity. The Board also shepherds the organization toward Strategic Plan goals, and manages all legal and fiduciary responsibilities.
